Broccoli Romanesco
NEW. Italian heirloom with delectable mild flavor.
Description
As visually striking as a work of art, this Italian heirloom is almost too beautiful to eat — but it begs to be savored. Each gorgeous head is a sprightly, light green spiral of cone-shaped florets, with a delectably mild flavor and a texture more akin to cauliflower than broccoli. Typically seen only in local farmers markets. Try it simply steamed and drizzled with olive oil. Well-adapted to cool Northern gardens. Heads can grow enormous: up to 4 lbs., and as large as 3 feet by 2 feet. Harvest 75-100 days from transplant.
