Cucumber, Brown Russian
Only turn brown when overly mature
First of all, this was a challenging year for my cucumbers in general so you might get better results than I did.
These cukes should be picked when young and a pale greenish white - still interesting, but not the dramatic brown skin I was expecting at eating time based on the product description. They were very tasty, but no more so than my hybrid cucumbers. They got bitter when the weather turned hot and dry.
They were big sprawling plants, not especially productive, and they suffered with mildew more than my other cukes.
They do look exactly like the picture if you let them get brown, but then they don't taste very good - not bitter, but the gel is very sour and the flesh doesn't really have any flavor at that point. A curiosity, but certainly not worth the high seed price. Try Iznik instead for a gourmet salad cuke.
