ok This is the best lettuce I have found for using it as a leaf and also a head. I have planted this for 3 years. It is crispy, does not get soft and soggy and keeps for a long time in the frig. if you have to pick it. I let mine grow to use as a leaf lettuce. Cut the leaves from the bottom. It will grow to about 4 feet tall before the leaves begin to get tough. It also tolerates a lot of rain. Prince of Whales Island, AK February 27, 2012
