- 6 firm large green tomatoes
- 1 cup granular sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg 1/4 teaspoon cloves 2
- tablespoons lemon juice 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon vinegar 2 tablespoons cornstarch 2
- tablespoons soft butter 9-inch pastry recipe, double crust
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Chop the tomatoes. In a mixing bowl, mix the sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, lemon juice, salt, vinegar, salt, and butter.
Add the tomatoes to the mixing bowl and gently blend. When tomatoes are nicely covered, pour into piecrust. Lattice crust is best to show the tomatoes.
Bake for 30 minutes or until mixture is bubbling and/or top crust is brown.
Serve warm, not hot.
